You love the men in your life. And if you’re anything like me, you pray for them- more than they will ever know.

One of the most powerful things we can do for the husbands, fathers, sons, and brothers in our lives is to encourage them toward God’s Word. But sometimes they don’t know where to start, or life gets busy, or the Bible feels overwhelming. What should men read in the Bible?

As a reader’s request, I put together this list of 12 Bible reading plan topics for men (plus one bonus topic). These themes speak directly to the challenges, questions, and God’s callings that men face. Whether you share this post or print it out for them, these topics are a wonderful starting point for any man who wants to grow in his faith.

With Father’s Day coming up, there’s no better time to encourage the men in your life toward God’s Word. These plans may also be helpful for Christian men’s Bible Study groups or men’s ministry at your church.

Why These Topics Matter for Christian Men Today

The men in our lives are navigating a world that pulls them in a hundred different directions. Work pressure. Family responsibility. Cultural chaos. The tendency to drift spiritually. What they need most is not a self-help program, but God’s Word, speaking directly to the specific challenges of being a man of faith today.

Each of the 13 topics below is rooted in Scripture and designed to meet men exactly where they are.

1. Who God Made Man to Be

Before a man can lead well or love well, he needs to understand his identity in Christ. This topic explores what Scripture says about being made in God’s image, the dignity of manhood, and what it truly means to be a son of God.

Key verses: Genesis 1:27, Psalm 8:3–6, Ephesians 2:10.

2. The Servant Leader

Jesus flipped the world’s definition of leadership upside down. This reading plan on servant leadership walks men through Christ’s example: washing feet, putting others first, leading with humility rather than authority.

Key verses: Mark 10:42–45, John 13:12–17, Philippians 2:3–7.

3. Being a Godly Husband

This Bible reading plan for husbands is one of the most practical and transformative topics in all of Scripture. What does it mean to love your wife as Christ loved the church? The Bible has a lot to say, and it’s both challenging and encouraging.

Key verses: Ephesians 5:25–33, 1 Peter 3:7, Proverbs 31:28.

4. Being a Godly Father

Fatherhood is one of the highest callings God gives a man. This topic covers everything from disciplining with love to passing faith on to the next generation, modeled beautifully by fathers throughout Scripture.

Key verses: Deuteronomy 6:6–7, Proverbs 22:6, Ephesians 6:4.

5. Holy Courage: Standing Firm in Your Faith

The Bible is full of men who were called to be courageous- not because they weren’t afraid, but because they trusted God more than their fear. This is a powerful topic for any man navigating pressure at work, in his home, or in the culture.

Key verses: Joshua 1:9, Daniel 3:17–18, 1 Corinthians 16:13.

6. Integrity and Honesty

Integrity is the quality of being the same man in private and in public: honest in words spoken, consistent in Godly character, and faithful in the small things no one else sees. In Scripture, integrity isn’t just a personality trait; it’s a mark of a man who fears God more than he fears what people think of him.

Key verses: Proverbs 10:9, Psalm 15:1-5, Colossians 3:9-10.

7. Perseverance & Endurance

Job, Joseph, Paul- the Bible is filled with men who endured tremendous hardship and came out on the other side with deeper faith. This topic is a lifeline for any man walking through a difficult season. These verses remind them that endurance isn’t just about surviving, it’s about being shaped into something stronger.

Key verses: Romans 5:3–5, James 1:2–4, Hebrews 12:1-3

8. Managing Money God’s Way

Jesus talked about money more than almost any other subject. This reading plan on biblical stewardship helps men examine their relationship with money, cultivate generosity, and hold possessions with an open hand.

Key verses: Matthew 6:24, Proverbs 3:9–10, 2 Corinthians 9:6–7.

9. Dealing with Anger & Emotions

Strength and emotion were never meant to oppose each other. These readings show men a better way- not to suppress what they feel, but to bring it honestly before God and handle it with wisdom.

Key verses: James 1:19-20, Proverbs 14:29, Colossians 3:8.

10. Faith Over Temptation

Every man faces temptation. Scripture doesn’t sugarcoat this topic, but it also promises a way through. God never leaves us to fight alone. This topic is one of the most honest and needed for men of faith.

Key verses: 1 Corinthians 10:13, Galatians 5:16, Matthew 5:8.

11. Purpose and Calling

These verses bring clarity to a question many men ask themselves: What am I here for? God created men with a purpose and a calling and invites them to listen to His voice to develop their character for His glory.

Key verses: 2 Timothy 1:9, Romans 8:29, 1 Corinthians 10:31.

12. Faith That Works

Sometimes the best way to grow is to study the men who walked this road before us. David, Joseph, Daniel, Moses, Peter, Paul: each one flawed, each one faithful, each one showing us what trusting God with your whole life looks like.

Key verses: Hebrews 11 (the whole chapter!), 1 Kings 11:4, Acts 2:42-47.

BONUS: Iron Sharpens Iron: The Power of Godly Friendship

Men were not made to do life alone. This topic explores what Scripture says about brotherhood, accountability, and surrounding yourself with men who will sharpen your faith.

Key verses: Proverbs 27:17, Ecclesiastes 4:9–10, Hebrews 10:24–25.

How to Use This Bible Reading Plan

Not sure where to start? The man in your life doesn’t have to tackle all 13 of these at once. Just a few minutes in the Word each day can shift his heart in ways only God can accomplish.

Each of these topics has 14 Bible verses with a focus verse and a theme thought that sets the stage for the readings. It gives the “why” behind the Scripture before the men even open to the passage. At the end of each topic are reflection questions, an action step, and space for notes and prayer journaling. They can be done in any order, any time.
